Please excuse the dust...

Hi All!
I haven't been blogging for awhile...
I've missed you!
but a lot is going on around here!

Some good and some bad...

**FIRST...AND SO IMPORTANT...(BUT WITHOUT GETTING INTO DETAIL)...I'M ASKING ALL OF YOU WHO WILL...TO PLEASE PLEASE PRAY FOR A SPECIAL CLOSE MEMBER OF MY FAMILY. SHE NEEDS ALL OUR PRAYER'S THIS WEEK! WE'RE PRAYING FOR SOME GOOD NEWS!  SHE DOES NOT WANT ME TO POST ALL OF THE DETAILS...BUT OUR GOD KNOWS...SO I'M ASKING YOU ALL TO PLEASE PRAY FOR HER THIS WEEK!!!
THANK YOU! I KNOW HOW AWESOME YOU ARE...AND I KNOW HOW AWESOME OUR GOD IS!!

If you remember...way back here...I posted about my dining room...and how we were making some changes.

My husband got started with the wainscoting...it took a few weekends...well more than a few really, because we had a few weekends where we couldn't work on it as all.  Anyway...that room is STILL not done!!
The wainscoting and crown molding are done...and might I add, it turned out great!

a shot of the crown molding...

then...dilemma #1

what color to paint?
I can't make up my mind...

light gray...
light and airy
or
a dark charcoal gray...
 for a more dramatic look??

the gray to the left of the fabric swatch...
or the dark gray peeking through...
still undecided about the paint color...

then...

dilemma #2

Yep...it's primer...only about 1/2 of gallon or more...no big deal...

So after a major mini meltdown...
I called my hubby home (he was on his way fishing...sorry honey) to confess...and have him come home to help me move the china cabinet who's black leg was swimming in a puddle of white primer!

this little dilemma, led to this....

and this...

and this...

              we removed the tile...

ripping carpet from the great room

and this...

that is my great room floor...and yes that is my basement down there!

we had a little problem we were unaware of until removing the carpet...

hubby is fixing the issue...

all of this is leading to...

hardwood floors!

I am finally getting rid of the "Pink" floor, that I have lived with in my kitchen ever since we moved into this house 16 years ago. I have ALWAYS hated it!

It's amazing how you just get so use to something...you just let it go...and you live with it...plus I knew it would be a great expense...and a big big job...
I have wanted hardwood floors for quite some time...and because of this paint spill...my husband finally got on board with it.

in the meantime...the house is totally chaotic!
Everything is coated in dirt and dust...I am working to take every possible thing...that I won't be needing out of our entire 1st floor
and putting it in spare rooms upstairs...or in the basement...or in the garage.

I could keep going with pictures of the kitchen...the office opposite our dining room...the laundry room...mudroom...back hallway...and powder room...but it's getting late...through all of this...I still have to work!

So....follow along...and I'll show you pics all along the way...I am so excited to be getting the new floors...and bringing everything back in...clean fresh and new...hope you'll follow along to see all of the changes!

**JUST A REMINDER TO PLEASE KEEP MY FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS!!

God Bless
Sharon

  2. Your family IS in my prayers, Sharon--so very glad you're back; had us worried! Spilling the primer on your carpet is SO SO something I would do, but I'm thrilled that it was, in the end, a "happy" accident, for now you get some fabulous wood floors! That is all we have in our home, and we've never regretted putting them in. Keep us posted, through all of the dust!

  4. Sharon - I'll pray for your family. You sure have been busy. You put me to shame, although I've been busy with the details around the roof/ceiling stuff and also our master bath. Waiting to hear good news....

  5. Awesome and exciting to be getting new floors! I am in the midst of several projects right now too while working full time, so I know how you feel (though on a slightly less chaotic scale). Good luck with it!
