A Walk in my neck of the woods!

Welcome to my neck of the woods!

Sometimes, I still can't believe I live in the country!
I grew up in a Detroit suburb. 16 years ago we moved to a small town in Indiana.....for 18 months.

We're still here....

I love Hoosiers...but I will always be a Michigander at heart!

I've been missing my snow...I really love a good snowfall...I am from Michigan after all...but after the last 2 beautiful days...beautiful spring like days...I think I could skip the snow, and I could most definitely handle this for a few months!

It has been so nice to get out and walk...and so I thought I would share some pictures from the last 2 days as I took a walk in my neck of the woods.

This pond is just across the street...it's not ours...but my boys use to fish in it when they were young.

Though I grew up in Michigan...my parents grew up in Arkansas...that's where I spent all of our vacations as a kid. I always loved going there...I'm sure this is where my love for country came from! It's in my bones....in my blood!

Continuing around the pond...here is a look across the way at our house.

The house looks so bare right now...I just recently took the Christmas wreaths down...and I've not put anything back up on the door yet...I need to get going on that.
This unseasonably beautiful weather has got me contemplating all the changes I plan on making once spring is truly here.
I can wait to see all of the flowers blooming!

Some random things you would see as you walk through my neck of the woods

I have scars from crawling through barbed wire fences as a kid down in Arkansas!

Trees...

...ya think?

A horse.........

a potty....

you never know when you're going to need a porta potty on the back 40!

You want to see something magical...walk down this road, on a warm summer night...and their will be soooo many fireflies...it's amazing!....I have never seen anything like it anywhere!!
It looks like thousdands and thousands of white Christmas lights twinkling from the ground to the very tops of the trees, lighting the path like an enchanted garden. It's beautiful! I'll have to remember to collect some in fruit jars with the grandbabies this summer! Oh I can just see their little expressions as they see them light up in the jar.
Catching fireflies in fruit jars...is one of my favorite childhood Arkansas memories.
I don't remember seeing many at all in Michigan.

Lots of farm fields around here.
Come harvest time...they will be full of corn...or soy beans.

A field full of deer....

I can't believe that I forgot to bring my telephoto lense, I couldn't get very close to the deer.
I tried to crop the picture a bit...but they look really blurry now.

I'm not sure if their worried I'm eying them for dinner...
or their eying me for dinner!

No telephoto lense needed here.

And the road back home...........

Thanks for spending this time with me...taking a walk in my neck of the woods!

Sharon

  8. Hi Sharon

I'm following you now. A few people have said they had trouble becoming a follower. What happened when you tried to follow. I think I may need to look into making it easier. There is google, type pad and rss feed. Thanks for letting me know I'll have to find a way to make following more user friendly.

BTW, I'm having trouble with my corner mantel. It's difficult to decorate. I am contemplating painting mine white too.
