Finally...a little before and after!

It's been a long time since I've posted anything...I've worked on things a little here, and a little there. but no time to finish many projects...and really NO time for blogging about them anyway.  It's been a rough time for our family...first with my sister finding out she had breast cancer last year...and just as she was finishing up her treatment...and doing excellent I might add...it became apparent that my parents were no longer able to stay in their home alone...and we have had to bring in 24/7 care for them. I have been traveling home (about a 6 hour drive) every other weekend for a quite a while now...on top of a full time job...it has been pretty overwhelming. Recently I was given the opportunity to go part time at work, and I have decided to take it! This will help with my trips home...and give me a bit of my life back!
I am super excited about that...and hopefully I will be able to get on a somewhat regular blogging schedule again!

So...all of that being said...It was just one short year ago (ha!) that I posted this post, about changing my kitchen up a bit.
I thought it was finally time to have a before and after for one of the most dramatic changes that took place in my kitchen...

and here it is...

of course there were a few steps in between...

we removed this cabinet...

and hung it in the laundry room...

Completely just closed off the this...

I mean...who needs food anyway...
it's all about the design right?

so goodbye pantry!...

Ok...so I guess we need some area designated for food...

so let's turn this coat closet...also in my kitchen...

into a pantry...

We can't forget about the floors...

that after much stress and anxiety were finally picked out..

and installed...

and I have to share the fact that we have lived with this for
months and months and months!!

Until finally...

I have a before and after to share...

It might only be this small little section...

from my entire 1st floor...

but it's done...
and I love it...

for now...

cause I stole that mirror from over my bed...which you can see here

and I'm thinking I might need a shelf or 2 over this buffet???

But for now...

from this...

to this...

so...please tell me what you think!

Does it take forever for you to get things done?
To pick out floors?
to pick out paint colors?

Am I the only one???

I pray your family is happy and healthy...

  1. Oh Sharon it is SO NICE to have you back again!

Gosh it seems like yesterday you were "sharin" with us about that redo - and it came out GREAT!

I love your design - so smart, way to go, lady!

I will raise up a prayer for your sis and your parents. It's so difficult. Hang in there.

    Welcome back, sincerely. God bless.

  5. No! You are not the only one who takes forever to finish projects. I recently went from working 4-5 days per week to 3 days (most weeks). It's so hard trying to juggle family commitments, house projects and work and stay sane! I hope things are going well for your family and the sneak peak of your makeover is fabulous!

  6. Love it! You did a fabulous job! Yes, life has a way of interfering with our fun, I understand that all too well! Glad you are back and hope that all goes well for you! It seems to take forever to get things done here too. Today begins week 5 of having the exteriior painted on the house. We have vinyl siding, so it is just the trim and porches! They haven't started painting yet, just prep work! My porch remains a mess!! Seriously this is making me nuts. Guess that I should be glad that they don't have to paint the house as well!

  7. You are definitely not alone. It takes me forever to finish a big project. Life just keeps getting in the way!

Your redo looks fantastic. I can't imagine actually removing a closet...we had 2 closets in our whole house when we moved in. We had to build in 6 closets!

I'm visiting from Funky Junk. Love your blog and am now following via Feedly. Have a great week!

    Hugs, Deborah
