NEW FLOORS! HELP!!!

I am frozen in fear!

fickle as the day is long!

Plain ole STUCK!

I can't seem to decide on my floors...
so I am asking for your opinions!

Who else could help me...except for you!
You guys are awesome!

So here are a ton of pictures...in a couple of different rooms...but it is night...so you are seeing them with overhead lighting...and no natural lighting.

All the floors are numbered...
here is the list of what kind of wood they are...

1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 are all Hand Scraped Maple in different colors

4 is Hand Scraped Walnut

6 is an exotic smooth plank African Mahogany

7 is smooth plank Red Oak

9 is Hand Scraped Hickory

so please "vote" so to speak in your comment

Do you like the lighter shades...or darker???

Here are some of my thoughts...
the darker floors...are rich looking...but will they be too dark in my house?...will probably show dirt  quicker??? Love them with the white trim...but my kitchen might be to dark.

the med tones...not as "rich" looking...kind of orangey looking...but won't make the house look as dark...won't show dust and footprints as quickly as the dark...

the smooth plank mahogany is an exotic...which means I could have more of an issue with shrinkage??? more formal looking??...we are not formal...but I like the color...maybe to reddish???

The oak floors...very traditional...maybe to boring...overused if you will...or maybe the safest bet??

I like the idea of Hand Scraped...they seem like the best choice to hide scratches or other mishaps, plus I just like the character...and that little bit of rustic.

I am driving my self crazy!!

Here you go...a ton of pictures!!

What do you think???

Not to sway you...but 8 and 9 are my least favorite...because from an angled distance...they just look too dark!

I have wanted hardwood floors for so long...who would have ever thought that I would have such a hard time picking them out???

Can't wait to hear from you!

Please excuse the dust...

Hi All!
I haven't been blogging for awhile...
I've missed you!
but a lot is going on around here!

Some good and some bad...

**FIRST...AND SO IMPORTANT...(BUT WITHOUT GETTING INTO DETAIL)...I'M ASKING ALL OF YOU WHO WILL...TO PLEASE PLEASE PRAY FOR A SPECIAL CLOSE MEMBER OF MY FAMILY. SHE NEEDS ALL OUR PRAYER'S THIS WEEK! WE'RE PRAYING FOR SOME GOOD NEWS!  SHE DOES NOT WANT ME TO POST ALL OF THE DETAILS...BUT OUR GOD KNOWS...SO I'M ASKING YOU ALL TO PLEASE PRAY FOR HER THIS WEEK!!!
THANK YOU! I KNOW HOW AWESOME YOU ARE...AND I KNOW HOW AWESOME OUR GOD IS!!

If you remember...way back here...I posted about my dining room...and how we were making some changes.

My husband got started with the wainscoting...it took a few weekends...well more than a few really, because we had a few weekends where we couldn't work on it as all.  Anyway...that room is STILL not done!!
The wainscoting and crown molding are done...and might I add, it turned out great!

a shot of the crown molding...

then...dilemma #1

what color to paint?
I can't make up my mind...

light gray...
light and airy
or
a dark charcoal gray...
 for a more dramatic look??

the gray to the left of the fabric swatch...
or the dark gray peeking through...
still undecided about the paint color...

then...

dilemma #2

Yep...it's primer...only about 1/2 of gallon or more...no big deal...

So after a major mini meltdown...
I called my hubby home (he was on his way fishing...sorry honey) to confess...and have him come home to help me move the china cabinet who's black leg was swimming in a puddle of white primer!

this little dilemma, led to this....

and this...

and this...

              we removed the tile...

ripping carpet from the great room

and this...

that is my great room floor...and yes that is my basement down there!

we had a little problem we were unaware of until removing the carpet...

hubby is fixing the issue...

all of this is leading to...

hardwood floors!

I am finally getting rid of the "Pink" floor, that I have lived with in my kitchen ever since we moved into this house 16 years ago. I have ALWAYS hated it!

It's amazing how you just get so use to something...you just let it go...and you live with it...plus I knew it would be a great expense...and a big big job...
I have wanted hardwood floors for quite some time...and because of this paint spill...my husband finally got on board with it.

in the meantime...the house is totally chaotic!
Everything is coated in dirt and dust...I am working to take every possible thing...that I won't be needing out of our entire 1st floor
and putting it in spare rooms upstairs...or in the basement...or in the garage.

I could keep going with pictures of the kitchen...the office opposite our dining room...the laundry room...mudroom...back hallway...and powder room...but it's getting late...through all of this...I still have to work!

So....follow along...and I'll show you pics all along the way...I am so excited to be getting the new floors...and bringing everything back in...clean fresh and new...hope you'll follow along to see all of the changes!

**JUST A REMINDER TO PLEASE KEEP MY FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS!!

God Bless
Sharon

Sure signs of Spring...

There’s a spring in my step...
 there’s spring In the air…
there’s blossoms, and children
 and bunnies everywhere…
There’s weeds to be picked…
there’s flowers to plant…
I’m having some trouble
with my pest...friend the ant!
There’s shutters to paint…
the front door too…
I should finish the dining room…
but it’s more fun talking to you…
So just for a moment…
I need to share…
these signs of spring…
I see everywhere…

A spring walk with Buddy Boo...
we're having such fun...
then eating bright yellow cupcake's with sprinkles...
right  after we're done...

Tator Tot sitting
on Great Grandma's lap...
on a beautiful day…
on the porch out back

On the ground sitting...
is little Sweet Tator...
holding cousin Jenn's pup...
which we'll take to her later...

 Tree's are a-bloomin everywhere...
Flowers are coming up too...
Just one of many blessings...
God gives to me and you!

Out at my friends...
where horses abound...
which one of you threw...
this ole gal to the ground??
Now...

A new mantel to show you...
the tulips died...
orchids and a bunny...
on my mantel now reside...

If you won't to see the Tulip Mantel you can see it here

My vases of flowers...
well they withered as well...
so I replaced them with fake green plants...
I picked up on sale

now this picture is bad...
even picmonkey's at a loss...
but I wanted to show you...
after all...I'm the boss

if you want to see the window with the flowers you can see it here

Enough is enough...
my poetry stinks...
but I wanted to tell ya...
spring is here to stay, me thinks!
